A Summer's Day At the Park

My dear friend Nicky is visiting from Texas this week. It's been wonderful having her here, meeting Kate and just catching up on life. We've been friends since 1992, I've spent many hot summers in Texas, and although lately we are lucky to see each other once a year it's so comforting slipping into a conversation with someone who knows you better than you know yourself. She and I have walked through many seasons of life together and it has been a joy introducing her to my daughter and sharing yet another chapter of life with such a special friend.

Today we went to the park to celebrate the fact the weather dropped below 100 degrees; it was a pleasant 88 today. Nicky has always had an eye for photography. I remember one time in college we took a trip to visit her grandmother in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. We took a hike along a scenic path in the height of the autumn foliage. She made me stand in these crazy poses with acorns and leaves...anyway, she always enjoyed photography. So today I handed her my camera and let her have at it. Here are some fun shots she took of Kate and me. I love them!
